    Default Your Ultimate Emotional Songs

EVERYONE has these, and you know the ones I'm talking about
Be sure to include the meanings

    I have a few:

The Who - Behind Blue Eyes (This is the ultimate one for me; like, every single fucking word; no joke. Senior year...I can't even begin to explain )
Marilyn Manson - The Nobodies (AAAHH! High school, anybody? )
    Phish - Dirt (Grampa)
The Beatles - She's Leaving Home (me and my parents, the narrative of what I never had the balls to do, heh)
Beck - The Golden Age (Again, senior year...)
Billy Joel - The Piano Man (Gah, just can't not love it/want to relate)
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

    You just suck

Each and every one of those songs is from a different genre. So lick, lick, lick my nuts.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Damn, the video got me teary-eyed. Awww
    First day of my life

I've yet to burry anyone that I love, don't have the experience/feelings of such an event, but this song takes me to that imaginary place!

There's nothing quite like emotional drama to get me going
Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.
If you're in this forum to learn something, be careful. Lots of misplaced toxicity.

That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy those things. I think these things usually make me feel wistful at the most, but not overwhelmingly gushy.

Aww, I like this thread. Songs really make me emotional too -- mostly wistful, unbearably nostalgic or just a deep, deep sad

Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2 // Neutral Milk Hotel (woww.. =** is all I can say)

The Triumph of Our Tired Eyes // A Silver. Mt Zion (amazing. goes from bleakly depressing to optimistic & hopeful... terribly affecting on first listen)

Trailer Trash // Modest Mouse (oh man, how can you not shed a tear?)

Spit On A Stranger // Pavement (subtly wistful and leaves a feeling of emptiness afterwards. especially the vid, since this was their last song on their last album </3)

Twin Falls // Built To Spill (NOSTALGIA ... trust meeee, it will just take you back)

    "Why is that weird? Shocked"

Coming from my perspective? Yeah, really weird.

The songs that get me most emotional:

Dream Theater: A Change of Seasons
    Emiliana Torrini: Dead Things
Steve Conte: Walk In The Rain

    and tons

    tons more.

rap music is nonmusical and a glob of random words superimposed on a chord sequence which is played 1000 times in a row.

not fun listening to my ears.

sorry i thought you were describing your posts. actually hiphop is spoken poetry in a language which you obviously don't understand. as for the melody, i don't think you're anywhere near an expert on music so don't try to act like one. perhaps you should stop listening to 50cent and delve deeper in this genre. you might find sounds and rythms which would make your eardrums blossom to their full portential.

How 'bout songs that get an emotional rise out of you, yet you don't know what the hell they are about...but...they have a few really cool lines....and you like the overall feel of them! There ya have it. These are my driving with the windows down singing my lungs out songs.

absolutely... I generally detest what rap has become.. but give me an old Public Enemy or Ice Cube album and I'm all good. Also 90's grower rap is excellent... Arrested Development anyone?! then the genre bending rap bands like Digable Planets are amazing too. Mustachio already mentioned the Fugees... another great rap band

Then the whitey rap and trip hop is excellent as well... Beatie Boyz and Phunk Junkeez. Not eminem though, I pretty much detest Eminem... the guy has no range and people make such a big fucking deal out of him.

I like Eminem. Angsty white guys with drug problems have to stick together!

i kind of love this song and i have no idea why. i had a long debate with an INFj friend of mine about whether this song was the inspiration for conor oberst's stage name.

my father is a professional freelance musician who majored in music and has made a career in music. (who makes instruments out of trash or inconspicuous components). as a result, "high" classical/jazz music and music theory have been intermittent parts of my upbringing (as well as the rest of the bizarre crap he listens to... you can't imagine). i furthermore have played the trumpet for the last five years and have learned enough about the theory to possess some knowledge of music theory. so, under any circumstances, i don't profess to be a musical historian but i have unsuspectingly and subconsciously acquired a fair amount of knowlege in the subject.

perhaps you should stop listening to 50cent and delve deeper in this genre. you might find sounds and rythms which would make your eardrums blossom to their full portential.
perhaps true, but i find no desire to further explore the genre.

i know an ISTp who really liked this song -- Total Eclipse -- after hearing an altered version of it on the movie Old School (or something of the like). i think he felt pretty embarrassed when he saw the clip of the original. even i was embarrassed for the guy.

as for Niff, you mean to tell me that you know jazz and know nothing about hiphop?

I don't know the name of the song but the one that played at the end of Donnie Darko when they're showing everybody's life after Donnie takes the plane engine in the face... it's also the music for a new video game commercial....

YEAH! I like that one. Definitely belongs in this category.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

yeah, so rap is repetive and a jumble of words --doesn't matter. there's hip hop production! so extravagant, expensive, deep, and really making use of the entirety of available musical technology. But whatever, you are a serious dude who knows serious shit-- go play your dad's trashcans.

nah really, you are right. Most of rap is bad, and really cheap too. But I dunno, your dad's trashcans are too interesting and I needed a reason to use them in sentence.
