I have a few questions for the ESTps.

How long do your relationships (lovers, friends etc.) usualy last? What motivates you to get close to someone so fast and what makes you decide to end the relationship just as fast? Are you more drawn to introverted types as opposed to extroverted?

It seems that I've had a never ending parade of ESTps coming and going in my life since I 6. Once one leaves (and I say to myself "Never ever again") another one forces thier way into my life and I can't resist.

Currently I have my ESTp husband and I don't expect him to leave anytime soon, though I never expected the others to leave when they did either. We've been together for 8 years and I've never seen any of the other ESTps have a relationship this long. If an ESTp runs through relationships so fast, what makes one decide to stay?

Just trying to figure out what makes you guys tick

why does beta think it needs an anything goes thread?

the gamma thread turned into a political debate. does beta think they can replicate that?

    For you ESTPs...

how often do you fall in love or claim to be and is that because of the deeper connection...

I was also wondering ESTps, if you pick up and drop hobbies quickly. My husband gets obsessed with things for a few months and then just as quickly drops them (just like his revolving door of friends) and declares that he never liked it anyway. If it's sports related, he's always pretty good at it but quits it anyways. It's just hard to believe him whenever he says he's into something new (and difficult to buy him gifts).

I can understand the intense obsession and quick burnout because that happens to me too, but I've learned to obsess less so that I can enjoy the new past-time for awhile.

So I was wondering if this is common to ESTps

PS It's not all bad, I have learned to bowl, golf, shoot guns, play texas hold'em, collect comics, race remote control cars and play any number of video games (just some of his phases from the last 8 years) and new skills are always good

    All EPs, actually.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Lmao. Who gives a fuck? Political debates don't make anyone smarter or better than others, which you obviously are too ignorant to see. You can shove your arrogance up your incredibly loose asshole.

i think you're jealous that gamma's "anything goes" thread is far more enlightening than anything that could come from beta.

it's boring when it's talk and arguing with no direction. But when my friends and I talk politics it's never to 'be right,' or 'win an argument,' it's usually us trying to find places where we could act, and make a difference. But on that note, you could also say that argument is action because if you aren't overbearing, dogmatic or generally unwilling to listen arguing is a good way to gain knowledge. And having more knowledge helps you make better action of it. So don't count it all out yet, little lady, it's really good to find the positive in every situation.

Political debate used to interest me much more than it does these days, for the reason that most of the debate is usually designated to areas in which nothing we could do could possibly make any difference for the greater good in our lifetime, short of about five times the resources of the United States military, about half as much nerve, and three-hundred times as much brain. That said, my conscience is like a tapeworm which gobbles up any sense of logic I may chance to internalize and so my friends get me into discussions like that anyway. We get nowhere, but it's good fun while it lasts.

EDIT: Originally I had posted something that would surely bring us all into the gutter. For the dignity of our Quadra, I sacrificed it. Let us discuss this video instead. It's of a guy yelling at his cats. It contains the best threat ever: "I will END YOU!!!!"

I like following politics, but political debates disgust me. Both sides are 100% covinced that their view is the only correct one and that the other person is a blind idiot. Just like with religious debates, no amount of arguing is going to convince the other person that they are wrong and that you are right. Even if they see some validity in your points, most people wouldn't admit to it.

    Simply aggravating

i pwnd my estp today. it was weird.

i told him his video card is 5 years old, so its not so good. (exact words)

and he gets all mad and defensive and is like "fine my video card sucks get over it blah blah etc etc"

I reply, "wtf why are you getting angry its only a video card?"

estp- "you keep attacking my computer and pointing out were it sucks"

me- "i was only saying that it wont meet the requirements for my game."

estp- "i dont say that your shit isnt good enough. i dont go up to one of your bags and say 'whoa that bag really sucks!'"

me- "thats not a good example, its not the same. if you had a USE for the bag, and what you wanted to put in it was too big, you would say to me "kelly your bag isn't big enough""

    estp- pwned.

they he stopped talking and sulked and did whatever he was doing. but i didn't enjoy the pwnage like i though i would, i felt bad because he was angry. i felt annoyed because he was angry for no reason.

    meh.

Hmmm, that story sounds strangly familiar

    How about

me-"Honey if you would quit taking one sip out of that water bottle, throw it away and then open another one 15 minutes later, we could save alot of money on waterbottles"

ESTp "So, you're saying it's all my fault that we don't have any money? Oh right of course EVERYTHING's my fault isn't it?" [storms off outside to smoke]

    me- "Huh?"

ESTPs get mad easily for no reason.

ESTP: Do that again and I will stop talking to you.
Me: WHAT? What did I do? WTF!
ESTP: It's all about respect. You have to play by the rules.
Me: I don't even know what game we're playing.
ESTP: When did I say we're playing a game?
    Me: WTF
ESTP: I did what you wanted, now do what I want.
Me: WHAT? You didn't do what I wanted.

It cracks me up. ESTPs are so original.

That sounds like an actual conversation between my husband and anybody else. Especially "It's all about respect."-or at least their narrowly defined version of respect.

THIS cat has taken protective measures in case that ding-dong from the video figures out the real way to get cats to do what you want.

Eeheh, it's not meant as absolute, you Nazi German.

It's just that I've seen ENTps doing that extensively, especially on political forums, by redefining definitions.

I don't know about ENTps, but my ESTp would rather die then admit that he was wrong, even if he knows how wrong he really is, especially to me.

I can sympathize, I hate admitting I'm wrong too

As a matter of fact, I believe I have. I think my mother-in-law is ENTj. When they come to blows, and yes I do mean BLOWS, I usualy hide in the corner and pray for it to be over. They both have to have the last word so the arguing usually ends when one of them loses thier voice.

I refuse to argue with ESTps because I know I wouldn't be able to keep my cool. If the situation allows, I just use Fe to get what I want from them, or just go over their head. In debates that were meant to be friendly, I would change the subject before yelling. The INTj I was with says that people yell when they're upset because their emotions over ride their ability to operate in a rational and social way. Yelling or showing any extreme emotion (especially negative emotion) is a sign of weakness.

    *sighs*

Five years ago I would have totally bitched someone out if I felt the urge.

I wouldn't say that's true. It's much worse to bottle them up inside, because then one day, you'll explode all over the place in a mess of blood and guts.

According to Augusta: Emotions or display of emotions is merely a form of releasing internal excitation/agitation. For example, anger is a way of reducing overexcitement by emotionally suppressing and depleting another, at lowering their activity level, or at strictly channeling their activity.

Would you say that from an external point of view this assertion is true as well? I know I personally feel calm even when I'm debating with my voice a bit raised, but I probably look devilish - at least, that's what I've been told.
